November 17th, 2009 This will be more of a PSA than anything else. I was working with a client of mine and she came to me with all kinds of crazy ideas for her current internet business.
Let me explain what I mean by crazy. First, let me tell you she is no where near a techie. She barely even knows where to type a url to bring up a website. (If I mention URL she has no clue what I’m saying) We are making progress, but it’s taking a while.
She comes to me all excited with a page full of notes and tells me she was talking to someone about her website and they were helping her. My first reaction was "Cool! Maybe they can explain something better than I can." Then she showed me her notes and I about flipped out.
Then I see her notes. This person, who was trying to help, told her stuff like:
Get a higher SEO ranking
Submit articles to multiple directories
Develop better sales copy
Think about doing PPL
Start using more meta tags
My client was both excited and at the same time clueless about any of this stuff. Now, most internet marketers totally understand what I just said, but her…..remember the URL thing?
I’m not saying this advice was good or bad, but it totally messed up everything I had taught her. I was working with her in hopes to teach her how to do things on her own, which is turning out to be an uphill battle, which is fine. I knew that going into this process with her.
When I explained to her this stuff was good to know, she shouldn’t get all worked up about it because she will just get all confused. She’s a painter and I explained to her it’s like me, who knows nothing about painting, running into a top painter on the streets and they start telling me which brush to use or what kind of canvas is best for these types of colors, ect. Although, helpful, it does nothing for me because of the level I’m at. Does this make sense?
My point is, if you’re not currently working with someone, please don’t feel you should be spilling your internet guts on them when it’s clear they don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.
Don’t worry, all is fine with me and my client, but her head was spinning for a while and hopefully, soon, she’ll be able to do stuff without asking me a zillion questions.
See, I told you this post would be a bit different!
November 10th, 2009 There was a sporting event where one of the participants did something totally different than what everyone else had always done because it was said it couldn’t be done that way. The announcers said something to the affect of “no one ever told him he wasn’t supposed to be able to do like that!”
OK, the explanation isn’t as good as actually hearing it, but you get the point.
How does this relay to Ecourses? Think about this, who says you’re supposed to create an Ecourse a certain way? If you create your Ecourse the same way everyone else does it, you’ll leave out a key ingredient…YOUR PERSONALITY! This statement can never be stressed enough, your Ecourse is YOUR Ecourse!
Only YOU can deliver it like YOU.
Oh sure, you can use templates from someone else, you can use ideas from someone else, you can even use topics that countless others have done, (all of which is encouraged!) but no one can create an Ecourse like you.
Try this, think of something totally off the wall to create your Ecourse, use that creative energy and write it down. Then take what you’ve written and continue to progress it in whichever direction that keeps the smile on your face.
Remember, just because no one else has done it like that doesn’t mean it can’t be done.
Here some ideas: write your Ecourse in the mind frame of your favorite TV character, maybe a radio personality, how about a bird flying over head. What about using different fonts, different colors? What about writing a “secret code” in the middle of it and have your readers figure it out like Maxwell Smart or James Bond?
The point is, there is no “have to” way to create your Ecourse, just go out and do it!

November 2nd, 2009 Where does an ecourse come in terms on when to introduce it in the business profit cycle? The people that follow my teachings know my thoughts on this, but I’ll talk about it again because this philosophy can always be stated again
October 23rd, 2009 Question: What are people willing to pay for that isn’t already all over the Internet! – Glenn
When it comes to purchasing, people are strange. You would think that people flock to the cheapest way possible for them to acquire whatever it is they are looking for. But sometimes, easy of the acquisition out weights the price. In other words, people pay for convenience.
Oh sure, almost anything can be found on the internet for little or no cost, but to take the time to find this stuff may not be worth it for some. Now, you come along and offer a way for people to get this hard to find (free) information. But, you want to get paid for your efforts, right? So, you offer an ecourse with all this information and charge people for it.
Of course, you have to be credible and make sure what you offer is great information, whether it’s from you or not. You have now provided a service to others by saving them time. People are always looking for ways to save time. You come along, provide a time saver type of service, put it into an easy to understand format, and bingo, you can market this and make money with it.
Of course, I would suggest putting this information into an ecourse format for best results, but that’s entirely up to you.
Saving people time is one of the ways a LOT of people make a LOT of money on the internet. As long as you are creditble and provide great information, people will flock to you to get what you have.
There is plenty of work involved to gather this information, so you SHOULD be paid for your time, right?

October 19th, 2009 There are a whole lot of people that have an internet business where they get subscribers to their distribution list for whatever reason.
There are also people who freak out when someone opts OUT of their distribution list. When you really think about it, and if you’re one of those people, ask yourself why?
Better yet, ask yourself why they opted in to begin with. Yes, I’ll admit, most people want to get the free stuff you offer. But what causes them to stay? Why don’t they just leave after they get your stuff?
I was once that way, freaking out every time someone left my distribution list, but then something hit me and I’ve been training about it ever since. It’s not you they are leaving, they are just not interested in having ketchup anymore.
Let me explain. If you think of the opt-in opt-out thing as offering burger and fries, then it makes everything I’ll talk about more simplistic. See if you can follow this analogy:
You offer someone a burger and fries (your free stuff for opting in to your list). After they get the burger, you offer them ketchup. You offer to help them open the packet/bottle, show them how to squeeze it out and how much to use. Some people will take the ketchup, some won’t. The only thing you can do is offer it to them and help the people that take it.
The ones that don’t want the ketchup shouldn’t mean anything to you.
Now remember, your ecourse goes great with ketchup! LOL!

October 12th, 2009 Question: What is the best way to create one from a book I am studying? Lorenzo
I would assume the book you’re studying isn’t one you’ve written, so I’ll take it from there. First of all, if you’re wanting to create an ecourse from that particular book, the obvious thing to me would be to get some sort of affiliate link to the purchase of that book. Heck, since you’re utilizing the methods within that book, may as well make some money with it as well, right?
The simplest way to create an ecourse from this book is to simply summarize each chapter of the book and make each summary an episode of your ecourse. For instance, of the book has 10 chapters, your ecourse can have 10 episodes. Also, there’s no rule about combining summaries into one episode. If the book has 100 chapters, chances are you probably don’t want to have a 100 episode ecourse on that book. That would be a bit overkill, wouldn’t it? Combine several summaries together and have a 10 episode ecourse. That’s a lot easier for someone to comprehend than having 100 parts coming flying at them.
Another thing you can do is take the ideas of that book and create an ecourse based on your interpretation of that book. For instance, if it’s a “how to” type of book, use your own spin or interpretation of doing that “how to” and present it in your own words. You can then either have folks pay for this ecourse to get these ideas of yours or link to the book itself (using your affiliate link of course)
That’s just two ways we can get you set up with this ecourse from a book your reading. If you need more, just let me know. Thanks for the question Lorenzo!
